Thanks for posting this Liam. Just saw you on Wooton’s Outspoken. London Irish myself (grandparents lived on Salmon St in Kingsbury in the 1970s) with A Level Economics (and English Literature 😜) plus a degree in Russian. The Mike Calvert video brings back fond memories of studying in crazy post Communist Russia in 1994. It’s difficult to understand unless you experienced it!
Superb interview Liam. Calvey is absolutely right about NATO expansion eastwards, especially when the US Secretary of State James Baker and the British said that NATO’S march to the East wasn’t going to happen. Alas, Calvey sees EU membership as a saviour to Ukraine’s Independence without seeing the bigger picture and why the UK departed. Unfortunately, Ukraine is between a rock and a hard place so we must pray that cool heads (and Trump’s ego) will prevail and the worse for Ukraine and Russia is over.
Brilliant interview Liam.
Great interview, you have excellent chemistry with each other. Perhaps do something regularly with Mike regarding Russian geopolitics?
Good idea Sunita.

Interesting suggestion that Ukraine could be a member of the EU without being part of the EU's Common Agricultural Policy.
Super interesting episode! Good to have found Liam Halligan again.
Fascinating and informative interview - thank you. Two great men.
Fascinating interview Liam, absolutely brilliant, looking forward to buying his book.
