I appreciate the fact that you try to be objective & give credit where credit is due - sadly the ability to do so seems to be lacking & perhaps it’s time to remind the British public that they were known as the nation of shopkeepers for a reason - plus, the arts once upon a time brought in literally billions into the British economy. Fashion - music - comedy - drama for a myriad of reasons & Britain was responsible for 54% of world inventions not just science & technology but football - cricket - etc etc etc Britain influenced the world with its ideas & all too often the US saw them & financially developed them.
